Morrow Batteries – The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry lay down the foundation stone of Morrow Research Centre

Morrow Research Centre is a crucial part of Morrows ambitious vision to develop the most sustainable battery cells in the world. The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Jan Christian Vestre, placed the foundation stone that marked the start of construction of the research centre.

This is an industrial adventure that the whole of Norway should be really proud of, the upsides regarding employment and export revenue are huge, and I am confident that Morrow truly will contribute to accelerate the green shift in the world.

“We in the national government will work to ensure that the political framework are as good as possible, we have great advantages for the emerging European battery industry in Norway, and will definitely be a part of this adventure.”

Shaped like a green prismatic battery, the foundation stone is a symbol of Morrows ambition to develop and manufacture the world’s greenest battery cells.

The Battery Research Center will be Morrow’s competence center of excellence. Located on-campus in Grimstad by the University of Agder, the center will develop and commercialize new battery technology. The real estate developer J.B. Ugland has already started to prepare the site for construction. The ground floor of the Researc Centre will be approximately 2000 square meters, with several floors of lab facilities and office spaces for around 40 employees. The facility will be finalised in early 2023.

Terje Andersen, CEO of Morrow Batteries.

This cutting edge innovation centre will be an important part of our development and industrialization of new battery technology.

“Morrow Research Centre will embrace the entire value chain from research and cell design to the mass production of battery cells. This facility will allow Morrow to gradually scale and tune the design, preparing for further scaling at the our planned pilot- and giga factory in Arendal.”
