Panasonic planning huge US battery plant to supply Tesla.
NHK has learned that Japan’s Panasonic is looking to buy land in the United States for a mega factory that will make a new type of battery for Tesla electric vehicles.
Sources say the electronics giant plans to acquire land either in Oklahoma or Kansas and invest several billion dollars to build the factory. Tesla is currently building a new facility in Texas, which borders Oklahoma to the south.
Panasonic is aiming to mass produce new high-capacity lithium-ion batteries that significantly increase the range of EVs.
