ZNL Energy and HPB Announce Strategic Collaboration to Drive High-Performance Energy Storage Solutions
Bergen, Norway / Bonn, Germany – November 12, 2024 – ZNL Energy AS and High Performance Battery Technology GmbH (HPB) today announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to leverage ZNL’s cutting-edge ZNL-NPx separator technology in HPB’s solid-state battery systems. This collaboration deepens the existing test agreement and furthers the joint mission of both companies to drive the energy storage market forward.
HPB’s successful testing of the ZNL-NPx separator has confirmed its robust stability and compatibility with HPB’s inorganic chemistry. The Companys test cells have completed:
- 30 cycles with ten-hour charging and discharging (0.1C, CC Charge/CC Discharge)
- 500 consecutive hourly charging cycles (1C, CC Charge/CC Discharge) from 0 to 100% State of Charge at room temperature.
These test results underscore the potential of ZNL’s technology to offer unique advantages in safety and efficiency, which HPB believes can enhance its product lineup and provide a competitive edge in the growing battery market.
Based on these positive findings, the next step is to analyze the long-term effects of cycle life tests with different C-rates in HPB full cells with a higher capacity. The C-rate, which indicates the charging or discharging speed of a battery relative to a battery’s capacity, has a significant influence on efficiency, service life, and dimensioning of stationary battery storage systems.
As a part of the MoU, ZNL Energy will work closely with HPB to jointly advance product development and explore further commercialization opportunities.
Jan B. Sagmo, CS&MO at ZNL Energy, stated :
This collaboration with HPB marks a significant milestone for ZNL Energy,
“Our partnership underscores a mutual commitment to pioneering sustainable, high-performance battery solutions. Together, we’re setting the stage for energy storage innovation that aligns with the needs of a growing, eco-conscious market.”
Dr. Sebastian Heinz, CEO at HPB, said :
We are pleased that positive results have been achieved in the first series of tests
“Working closely with ZNL Energy will help us accelerate commercialization and improvement of HPB’s and ZNL’s cutting-edge technologies together.”
This signals both companies’ dedication to advancing collaboration and exploring new opportunities to combine their technologies for powerful, sustainable solutions. The partnership between ZNL and HPB is able to make a significant impact in areas such as renewable energy storage and electric mobility and support a more sustainable future.
