Toshiba Electronics Europe announces new Vice President of its Battery Division.
Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH announces the appointment of Volker Schumann as Vice President, Battery Division, effective 1st July. Schumann will be responsible for growing Toshiba’s SCiB™ business in Europe.
Toshiba SCiB™ batteries find deployment in demanding transport applications such as trains, ferries or mining vehicles and other areas like autonomous mobile robots or stationary power systems, where batteries need to be recharged rapidly, several times per day. SCiB™ batteries are known for their exceptional lifespan, very high power density and inherent safety features. These qualities translate into higher energy efficiency in smaller sized batteries.

The increased focus on sustainability and electrification of industries worldwide is driving demand for advanced battery technologies.

Schumann joined Toshiba in 1999 and has held various positions at Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH, most recently as the General Manager Battery Sales. Before this, he was also responsible for the Automotive Systems Marketing Group and headed the Automotive and Industrial sales teams for semiconductors.
