SAIC Motor, Huawei agree to collaborate in smart NEVs – battery and hydrogen fuel cell included
Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC Motor has signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with local technology company Huawei Device Company to develop a new generation of intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs), with the aim of bringing new smart mobility features to its customers.
SAIC Motor confirmed in a statement that the two companies will cooperate in
Product definition, manufacturing, supply chain management and sales and services, to create intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs) and jointly bring users a leading smart mobility experience.
SAIC Motor will provide its in-house technologies for the partnership, including its battery electric vehicle (BEV), hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) technologies, as well as its know-how for components such as EV batteries, electric and hybrid drive systems and fuel cell solutions.
For Huawei, this is the latest in a growing list of smart electric vehicle partnerships and joint ventures it has established with local automakers, including Changan Automobile, GAC Group, Dongfeng Motor, JAC Motor, BYD and Seres.
Huawei will provide its in-house expertise in software, hardware, chips and cloud solutions to its partnership with SAIC Motor. The company is focused on developing of a number of advanced automotive technologies, including intelligent driving such as advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), intelligent cockpits, vehicle controls and ultimately software-defined vehicles.
