Rho Motion live: Europe – electric vehicle (EV) outlook: the road to zero emissions.
Rho Motion will take guests on the road to net zero emissions with topical sessions taking place across the energy transition for its first two-day event in Gothenburg, Sweden on the 6th and 7th of September. Kicking off day one will be an in-depth review of the European EV market, which is currently seeing growth of 24% in H1 2023 y-o-y – a return to strong growth after a slower pace in 2022.
This rate is also faster than the growth seen in the total vehicle market after an easing of supply chain stresses, causing regional penetration to rise to 19% for H1.
The first session European EV Market: The road to zero emissions will be hosted by Rho Motion’s Automotive Research Lead, William Roberts.
William Roberts, Rho Motion’s Automotive Research Lead said:
The targets put on European vehicle manufacturers for 2030 and 2035 are incredibly tough, the region might still be exhibiting strong growth, but the jumps needed between now and then in order to reach the targets are still staggering.
“Legislation was enough to kickstart the EV market but, with consumer support from governments reaching its limits, tough economic conditions and a change of gear from the US regarding EVs, the challenge has never been greater for the region.”
“OEMs, legislators, financiers, technology providers and consumers will need to pull together in the same direction for the plan to reach fruition. Our sessions cover key speakers from each of these specialisms and I’m looking forward to unpacking these questions with them.”
The European EV Market session will cover:
- European progress – using the latest data to see who is ahead or behind the pace
- Sizing up the challenge associated with 2030 and 2035 targets
- Legislation in Europe – a competitive incentive structure for investment in Europe is falling short of the US. The session will explore whether Europe needs globalisation in order to achieve its goals
- Next generation Chemistries, where LFP is in Europe and whether it or any other alternatives to NCM will start to make an impact as they have elsewhere in the world
This is just one aspect of the energy transition that makes up a full programme taking place across the two days. The full agenda is made up of the following sessions:
- European EV Market: The road to zero emissions
- European Policy Outlook
- Battery Technology Roadmaps: Session 1
- Battery Technology Roadmaps: Session 2
- BESS Market: Transforming the EU grid through resiliency
- Energy Transition Capital (Panel)
- EV Charging Market: Scale and Speed
- Battery Recycling Strategies
Taking place at Jacy’z Hotel in central Gothenburg, Rho Motion Live: Europe tickets are for both days and comprise of individual presentations, panel discussions and informal networking to expand industry connections and gain crucial market insights from those at the forefront of the energy transition.
