Rho Motion Live: Europe – Battery Energy Stationary Storage (BESS) session will delve into the issues and opportunities shaping Europe’s stationary storage market

Rho Motion Live: Europe – Battery Energy Stationary Storage (BESS) session will delve into the issues and opportunities shaping Europe’s stationary storage market.

Rho Motion will be covering the latest Battery Energy Stationary Storage (BESS) topics at Rho Motion Live: Europe, its first two-day event in Gothenburg, Sweden on the 6th and 7th of September. ESS is currently the fastest growing battery market. Within the first half of the year 50 gigawatt hours of new capacity was installed across the grid and behind the meter, amounting to a year-on-year increase of over 100 percent.

The session BESS Market: Transforming the EU grid through resiliency will be hosted by Rho Motion’s Research Manager, Iola Hughes:

“The European BESS market is really interesting because each country operates very differently with varying levels of policy, support and legislation.

Globally in 2023, we are forecasting in the region of 140 gigawatt hours of stationary storage across grid and behind the meter market but to achieve this, supply chain issues and interconnection queues will need to be addressed.

This web of complexity forms the backdrop of an exciting session on BESS where we will be joined by guest speakers from Freyr Battery, Fluence, Ingrid Capacity and BP.”

The BESS session will address major themes including:

  • How large a part permitting plays in the progression of BESS projects
  • NCM vs LFP – how technology has developed over the past two/three years
  • How is the BESS supply chain evolving, as dedicated BESS batteries become the norm
  • What kind of viability does sodium ion have in BESS
  • What the most pressing issues and opportunities are for those in the BESS space
  • Market share by region – can Europe catch up with China and the US

This is just one session that makes up a full programme taking place across the two days. Other topics include:

  • European EV Market: The road to zero emissions
  • European Policy Outlook
  • Battery Technology Roadmaps: Session 1
  • Battery Technology Roadmaps: Session 2
  • BESS Market: Transforming the EU grid through resiliency
  • Energy Transition Capital (Panel)
  • EV Charging Market: Scale and Speed
  • Battery Recycling Strategies

Taking place at Jacy’z Hotel in central Gothenburg, Rho Motion Live: Europe tickets are for both days and comprise of individual presentations, panel discussions and informal networking to expand industry connections and gain crucial market insights from those at the forefront of the energy transition.
