Powin announces new 1500 volt DC battery energy storage stack™360e. In conjunction with the U.S. Energy Storage Association Annual Conference & Expo taking place this week, Powin, LLC (Powin), a global leader in the design and manufacture of safe and scalable battery energy storage solutions, announced a new product –Stack360E — marking the company’s entrance into the high voltage battery energy storage market.
Compatible with various cell suppliers, the 1500Vdc Stack360E is a complement to Powin’s 1000Vdc Stack230E, both of which are intended for energy applications of three-hours or longer.
The move to a higher operating voltage increases the general power rating of compatible inverters, lowering overall balance of plant (BOP) costs. Stack360E utilizes a new third generation module design which, compared to the previous generation, provides 10% more energy in the same footprint, reduces cell temperature variance by 50%, and can be swapped in-field 80% faster.

As with Powin’s entire portfolio of Stacks, the Stack360E utilizes Powin’s field-proven battery monitoring and control platform, StackOS, with hundreds of thousands of hours of safe operation. Additionally, Stack360E provides the same industry leading 20-year performance guarantee and uses a nearly identical enclosure design and safety systems to the Stack230E, minimizing project risk.
The Stack360E will begin mass production early in the third quarter of 2021, with the first deliveries scheduled to take place later in the same quarter. To date, Powin has secured more than 500 MWh in contracted orders for the Stack360E.
