Nth Cycle, the innovative metal processing and recycling technology company, announced that it had hired longtime product and program engineer Christopher Thoren as Vice President of Engineering.

Thoren is the most recent addition to Nth Cycle’s leadership team as the company continues to expand following its $12.5 million Series A financing, headlined by VoLo Earth, Frankstahl, Mercuria, and Clean Energy Ventures.

As Nth Cycle’s Vice President of Engineering, Thoren will lead all engineering functions including developing and scaling core technologies and overseeing supply chain and manufacturing operations.

Christopher Thoren, Vice President of Engineering said:

Critical metals are at the very core of the world’s effort to decarbonize and I am excited to join Nth Cycle to help establish a secure, clean and domestic supply of the minerals necessary for the energy and transportation transition.

“Nth Cycle’s electro-extraction technology is a game changer and I’m thrilled to be a part of a team that’s so dedicated to playing a key role in the net-zero transition.”

Prior to joining Nth Cycle, Thoren spent 16 years at the Bose Corporation leading product development for consumer electronics and medical products. He most recently led the development of the first FDA cleared medical device for Bose.

Prior to his work at Bose, Thoren held various roles at Hewlett Packard, Digital and Motorola spanning mechanical engineering, software development and manufacturing positions. Mr. Thoren holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and a M.S. in Computer Science with a Certificate in Software Engineering from Boston University.

Megan O’Connor, CEO of Nth Cycle, said:

As we prepare to commercialize our technology, Christopher’s breadth of knowledge and experience in engineering, supply chain and manufacturing management will be an asset to us.

“As a society, we must ensure that the products enabling our clean energy transition are as clean as the future we envision. Our technology enables an environmentally friendly and cost-competitive domestic mining and recycling industry.”

Demand for the critical minerals necessary to power the clean energy transition is growing exponentially. Nth Cycle’s unique, modular electro-extraction technology supports battery recyclers and miners with an alternative or enhancement to older, emissions-intensive hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes.

Nth Cycle’s technology transforms the outputs of electronics recycling, untapped mining resources, and waste from existing mines into high-purity critical minerals ready to be used in new production.

Nth Cycle has open positions in engineering, business, and the sciences.
