Noroo Paint Achieves Milestone in Advanced Materials for Batteries and Hydrogen Energy

Noroo Paint, a prominent player in the paint industry, has announced a significant milestone in its strategic shift towards the materials business, particularly in the secondary battery and renewable energy sectors. On March 7, the company revealed its success in expanding the mass production of six advanced new materials designed for secondary battery molding and hydrogen energy applications. It has been investing in research and development in electronic materials since 2011 and integrating battery and hydrogen technologies since 2018.

The newly mass-produced materials include a flame-retardant “battery molding agent” that absorbs shocks and fills spaces between cells, and an “urethane flame-retardant foam for ESS” that prevents battery cell corrosion in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. These innovations are part of Noroo Paint’s broader strategy to enhance battery safety and performance, addressing critical challenges in the industry such as battery fires and degradation.

Last year, the company participated in InterBattery 2024, the nation’s largest battery exhibition, showcasing 13 types of functional secondary battery materials and 3 types of materials used in hydrogen fuel cells and water electrolysis manufacturing. The exhibition, themed “Energy Tech Solutions,” proved to be a fruitful endeavor, leading to new client acquisitions and contracts. As a result, the company’s sales in the advanced new materials sector surged by 78.5% compared to the previous year, with projections indicating a further 123.4% growth by 2025, representing a remarkable 400% growth compared to two years prior to the exhibition.

A company official emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation, stating, “We are pursuing technology development in core material areas such as secondary batteries, defense, silicon, and eco-friendly bio, based on 80 years of accumulated core competencies.”

The official further added:

With the success of mass-producing advanced new materials, we will continue to provide New Economy products that meet customer demands through ongoing research, development, and innovation.
