Nissan Canada Inc and Lithion Technologies to Advance EV Battery Recycling and Circular Economy through New Partnership
MISSISSAUGA AND MONTREAL – Nissan Canada Inc. announces a multi-year strategic partnership with Lithion Technologies Inc., a Montreal-based clean tech innovator, to recycle end-of-life electric vehicle (EV) batteries. This collaboration reinforces Nissan’s commitment to sustainability, responsible resource management, and commitment to building a circular economy in Canada.
Through this partnership, Nissan Canada will leverage Lithion Technologies’ advanced hydrometallurgical recycling process, which enables the recovery of up to 95% of critical battery materials and 98% of critical minerals, potentially reducing the demand for natural resource extraction and minimizing environmental impact. This initiative supports Nissan’s broader electrification strategy by pushing for the reuse of valuable battery materials in future production, and by helping reducee waste and Nissan Canada’s carbon footprint.

Lithion Technologies’ scalable and safe recycling infrastructure, including its commercial facility in Saint-Bruno, Quebec, is designed to efficiently process EV batteries at scale, supporting the rapidly expanding Canadian EV market and aligning with Nissan’s goals for a greener supply chain.
