Minviro LCA Report Finds OneD Battery Sciences’ SINANODE® Silicon Anode Technology Can Reduce EV Battery Pack Carbon Footprint by 35%

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — OneD Battery Sciences (“OneD”) announces the completion of a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of its SINANODE® silicon anode technology applied to graphite anode materials for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The study, conducted by Minviro, a globally recognized leader in LCA for businesses in the energy transition, quantifies the sustainability benefits of enhancing graphite feedstock materials with SINANODE®. The findings confirm that SINANODE® has significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions and resource consumption compared to conventional anode materials.

Minviro applied a rigorous, science-based approach to assess SINANODE®’s environmental performance, delivering an ISO-14040 and ISO-14044 compliant LCA report for battery materials and clean technology supply chains.

Key Findings from the Minviro Report

  • When SINANODE®-enhanced graphite is processed in North America or Europe, it can significantly improve anode performance while reducing the cost and carbon footprint of today’s EV batteries, fortifying the establishment of a competitive local supply chain.
  • Anode materials are used to store electrical energy in batteries, and the energy storage capacity is measured in kAh. Applying SINANODE® to EV-grade natural graphite reduces the anode material’s carbon footprint (kg CO₂-eq) per kAh by more than 90%, compared to the conventional graphite blends used in today’s batteries, and by 35% of the battery pack carbon footprint.
