Lithium-ion batteries cause mobile home fire in St James City.
The Florida State Fire Marshal responded to the scene of a fire caused by lithium-ion batteries in St. James City.
The Matlacha/ Pine Island Fire District responded to the scene on Harpoon Lane at around 1:28 a.m. on Thursday.
The fire marshal was called to the scene at 2:06 a.m., where the damages were assessed from the back of a camper on the property and the front of the mobile home.
According to firefighters, the rest of the home sustained no damage, with no traces of smoke or odor from the fire.
The fire marshal said the flames were extinguished using less than 1,000 gallons of water.
No occupants were present at the time of the fire.
The home’s owner has not yet been contacted; however, a nearby neighbor told firefighters of the owner’s whereabouts, stating that he lives in Miami.
