LICAP Technologies announces successful development of new Lithium-Ion battery electrode.
LICAP Technologies, Inc. announced it has achieved a major milestone in successful development of a new Lithium-Ion Battery Electrode which significantly reduces battery production costs and improves performance.
Traditional production of Lithium-Ion battery electrodes uses a wet slurry process, which has many cost and product performance disadvantages. LICAP’s activated dry battery electrode can be produced in a factory space 75% smaller than the space required for wet processed electrode production. Since the electrode is already dry, there is no need for the large, high energy-consuming tunnel ovens.
There are minimal solvents and no solvent recovery systems or residual solvent contamination issues. LICAP is already in scale production with a patented Activated Dry electrode material which is used in LICAP’s ultracapacitor and lithium-ion capacitor products.
The new dry battery electrode is in evaluation and verification at multiple major Lithium-ion battery manufacturers, including one of the major South Korean providers, and is ready for scale up for mass production.
Dr. Linda Zhong, President of LICAP Technologies, Inc.
We are excited to introduce this new electrode production technology and we believe it will significantly change the lithium-ion battery industry.
