This will enable Leoch to create a new business covering Spain and Portugal – Leoch Iberia – to strengthen its European operations with existing companies in France, Germany, Italy and the UK.
Meibat SL. focuses on complementary sectors to Leoch in telecommunications, UPS, data centres, renewables and energy storage as well all different motive market segments. The company is in the top 10 of battery and energy system distributors in Spain with all the major Key Accounts in the region.

The new company expects to create additional jobs through a strategic plan to use the Spanish operations as a base to extend into Latin America, using a network of local representatives in different Latin American countries, supported by Leoch Iberia and Leoch EMEA headquarters in Athens, Greece.
Apostolos Tasiopoulos, EVP EMEA – VP Global Telecom at Leoch International Battery Pte Ltd said:
Leoch previously had a representative in Spain but now this major acquisition will enable us to establish a permanent footprint with all Original Equipment customers in Iberia, as it was the only major European country on our target list where we didn’t have our own entity, adding to successful facilities in France, Germany, Italy and the UK.
“From this new base in Madrid, we will focus on driving the growth of our leading industrial batteries with all major Key Accounts in the network power market (telecom, UPS/data centre, renewables/energy storage etc) as well as in the motive power one (mobility, AWP, floor cleaning, car conversion, caravans, yachting etc) in Spain and Portugal,” he continued.
