Imerys and Shanghai ShanShan partner to supply Europe’s battery anode market
Imerys Graphite and Carbon Switzerland Ltd. (IGC), a global leader in conductive additives for Lithium-ion batteries and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Imerys SA, and Shanghai Shanshan New Material Co., Ltd., the global leader in synthetic graphite for lithium-ion battery anodes, today announced a strategic partnership to produce high-performance synthetic graphite anode materials in Europe, a critical component for the continent’s growing electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage sectors.
This partnership directly addresses Europe’s critical need for a regional, resilient, and competitive battery supply chain. By combining Shanshan’s leading anode production technology with the extensive graphite expertise of Imerys, the collaboration will focus on optimizing products and production to deliver a secure and sustainable local supply of synthetic graphite anode materials. This will significantly reduce the continent’s reliance on imports and strengthen its industrial sovereignty.
