Honda – The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry approves the plan to secure the supply of storage batteries for the development and mass production of high-capacity, high-power lithium-ion batteries.
GS Yuasa Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “GS Yuasa”) and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Honda”) have long concluded a joint research agreement to deepen collaboration in joint research and development of lithium-ion batteries and their manufacturing methods. We announce that the mass production investment and joint research and development by GS Yuasa and Honda have been certified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as a “Plan to Secure Supply for Storage Batteries.”
Through initiatives in accordance with this plan, we will respond to the expected increase in demand for batteries in Japan and contribute to green transformation (GX) that shifts our industrial and social structures to focus on clean energy.

The BEV strategy will play a very important role in the future of GS Yuasa in the Vision 4 announced in April, and we will make every effort to achieve carbon neutrality in society by making the most of the government support we have received this time and strengthening our domestic manufacturing base for automotive and stationary applications together with Honda.
