HHL leads innovation management in battery technology with SAFELOOP
The HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management is part of the European research project SAFELOOP , which is driving the development of a new generation of safe, sustainable and high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIB) for electric vehicles.
SAFELOOP brings together 15 leading academic and industrial partners from 11 countries to develop innovative technologies for a competitive and environmentally friendly battery economy in Europe.
HHL supports technology strategy and IP management
HHL, represented by its endowed Deutsche Bank Chair for Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dr. Kelvin Willoughby, plays a key role in the areas of intellectual property (IP) strategies and business model innovation. The team of researchers and students analyzes the global value chain of the LIB industry, evaluates the international patent landscape and develops viable business models for European innovators.
Innovation at the interface between business and technology
Willoughby, explaining the relevance of interdisciplinary cooperation, says:
Our work in the SAFELOOP project shows that HHL plays a central role in the development of future technologies.
“We are not only strengthening Europe’s competitiveness, but are also actively shaping the change towards sustainable innovations. Especially in the deep tech sector, which makes a significant contribution to economic growth, we rely on a close integration of economics and technology development in order to increase the success rate in the commercialization of innovations,”
