MARSHALL, Mich. — A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company now owns the land that is set to house BlueOval Battery Park.

Friday, the Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA) transferred the 500 acres of land where the battery manufacturing facility is being built to BlueOval Battery Michigan LLC, according to officials.

This comes as crews continue working to construct the facility, which is on track to begin production in early 2026.

James Durian, CEO of MAEDA, said,

Ford has been an incredible neighbor and community partner, supporting dozens of programs and services across the region,

“We’re excited to see progress on this project that has already created hundreds of local construction jobs in and around the Marshall Area Jobs, Opportunity and Recreation (MAJOR) Campus, adding to foot traffic for our local restaurants, area shops and small businesses.”

So far, crews installed the final steel beam of BlueOval Battery Park in December, and are working to construct the facility’s cell and pack plants, which sit on the 500 acres.

Once complete, the plant is expected to create about 1,700 local jobs and will eventually produce batteries for electric vehicles, according to officials.

In addition, Marshall is expected to receive $2 million annually in new revenue from BlueOval Battery Park, while Marshall Township and other area communities will receive “significant new revenue gains” due to the creation of local jobs.

Dan Eriksson, CEO of Battle Creek-based Hoffman Brothers, said:

With this project in Marshall, our small business is putting people to work building long-lasting infrastructure that will benefit our families, friends and neighbors for years to come,

“The MAJOR Campus will attract additional investments for our region, which means higher property values and funding for police, fire, schools and roads.”

Scott Davis, CEO of BlueOval Battery Michigan LLC and a Marshall resident, added:

This is another positive signal that we are on track to begin production in 2026, and we are continuing to hire so that we can build the best possible team to lead this advanced manufacturing facility,

As of Friday, Ford has invested more than $450,000 to fund multiple Calhoun County organizations and services, according to officials.

These include Marshall Public Schools, Marshall Bucks matching program to support local business, the Bohm Theater, the Binder Park Zoo, and the City of Marshall for tree planting and repairs to the Brooks Memorial Fountain, officials said.
