Flower Recognized by UNESCO World Engineering Day as a Global Pioneer for Sustainable Development
Flower, Sweden’s leading player in battery storage trading and optimization, has been named one of the leading companies representing a sustainable future by UNESCO World Engineering Day.
The recognition, awarded in conjunction with UNESCO’s 80th anniversary, celebrates the contributions of engineers and technology companies in achieving the UN’s global sustainability goals. It also highlights the crucial role of engineering in solving some of the most pressing sustainability challenges of our time.
John Diklev, Founder and CEO of Flower, says:
It is an honor for Flower to be selected by UNESCO World Engineering Day. This recognition validates the work we do, together with our partners, to accelerate the energy transition.
“It strengthens our determination to contribute to solving the significant energy challenges that remain in Sweden, Europe, and the world,”
UNESCO World Engineering Day’s recognition of Flower underscores the growing importance of flexible energy resources, as well as their integration and optimization, in the transition to a sustainable and resilient energy system. Flower’s AI-driven platform enables the optimization and efficiency of energy resources such as battery storage, wind farms, and residential batteries, providing critical flexibility to electricity grids as the share of renewable energy rapidly increases.
Flower’s accelerating growth and technological leadership have positioned the company as a key player in the European energy sector. In 2024, Flower acquired Sweden’s largest battery park and secured a €45M Series A funding round led by Northzone. The company has grown to over 140 employees and has, among others, been recognized as one of the world’s top 100 impact companies. Flower is now expanding into the DACH region, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
