EVE releases 6C fast-charging large cylindrical battery Omnicell.

Lithium battery industry giant EVE has released a new large cylindrical battery Omnicell. This product has excellent performance and has 6C fast charging capability, which can provide electric vehicles with a cruising range of 300 kilometers in just 5 minutes.

In the battery industry, C represents the charge and discharge rate, which is the ratio of charge and discharge current to rated capacity. For example, 3C represents a current charge and discharge capability of 30 amps, while 6C represents a current charge and discharge capability of 60 amps. Compared with the current mainstream products in the market, the use of 6C rate will significantly improve the energy replenishment efficiency while the time required to complete charging is significantly shortened within 20 minutes.

Zhao Ruirui, executive vice president of EVE Central Research Institute, also revealed EVE’s progress in eVTOL and solid-state battery layout at the event. Among them, the company plans to launch all-solid-state batteries in 2026.

eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft) is an innovative form of low-altitude economic carrier. Zhao Ruirui said that EVE has evolved from a short-distance small cylindrical battery to a comprehensive solution that can be used for commercial operations today. The company is constantly deepening its understanding of the energy solution requirements of “City in the Sky”.

Zhao Ruirui believes that eVTOL needs to fly from the top of the building to the top of the building. First, the output power of the power battery is required. Even at 20%-30% SOC, it can still operate at high power; second, it requires weight-bearing flight, which affects the energy density. The requirements are very high; third, it must be very safe; fourth, it must be economical; fifth, it must have fast charging function and long life.

It is worth noting that this year the overall development trend of the power energy storage industry is accelerating towards “ultra-fast charging”. Leading energy companies are actively developing power energy storage products that reach or approach 6C rate. Media reports last Wednesday stated that CATL plans to launch second-generation Kirin battery products in the second half of the year, with power reaching a 6C rate. It is said that companies such as Li Auto and Jike Auto have conducted technical exchanges with CATL on the second-generation Kirin battery, but it has not yet been determined whether products equipped with the corresponding technology will be launched this year.

At the same time, BYD, which has not released any new products in the past three years, is also planning to launch fast-charging battery products. According to sources close to BYD, BYD’s upcoming second-generation blade battery is expected to be available in the second half of this year, and the company’s 6C battery, which is still under development, is also worthy of attention.
