Elliott obtained local government approval to develop a battery at its Susan River Solar Farm.

Elliott Management Corporation price expectations for its Australian solar assets may have edged up a few notches, after the company obtained local government approval on to develop a battery at its Susan River Solar Farm.

The company, which has tapped Azure Capital and Bank of America to sell its Elliott Green Power Australia, has been given the green light for a 50 megawatt capacity battery, capable of storing 100 megawatts an hour (MWh) of energy, by the Fraser Coast Shire Council.

Elliott Green Power’s solar farms can provide sufficient electricity to the equivalent of 80,000 homes in NSW and Queensland.

The combination of 300 MW of solar assets, with its growing battery infrastructure, is considered a value booster for the company, although it remains to be seen whether it’s enough to materially move the needle on the price.

Solar plus storage assets adds significant operating flexibility to Elliott Green Power (EGP).

The addition of the new battery means EGP has received council approval for batteries totalling 75MW of capacity and 150MWh of energy within south east Queensland. It follows the approval of the Childers Solar Farm battery last month.
