China Unveils First Grid-Scale Sodium Battery Standard: Highstar Secures First Certification
April 1st, Highstar Sodium Battery (Guangdong) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Jiangsu Highstar Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd， has became the first company in China to earn certification for its sodium-ion battery technology under the newly established GB/T 44265-2024 national standard. Issued by the Beijing General Certification Center (CGC), this certification validates the battery’s safety, performance, and reliability for large-scale grid applications.
Key Details of the Certification
GB/T 44265-2024 Compliance: The standard, China’s first dedicated guideline for sodium-ion batteries in power storage, sets strict criteria for energy efficiency (≥83% at 5°C), thermal stability (operation up to 70°C), and lifespan.
Highstar’s achievement demonstrates its technology’s readiness for commercial deployment, and excellent performance and mass production capacity of its products.
