China introduces Certification Requirements for Sodium-Ion Batteries in Energy Storage Systems
The China Quality Certification Center (CQC) has officially introduced a new certification program targeting sodium-ion batteries used in electric energy storage systems. The initiative is governed by the certification rule CQC13-464292-2025 and aligns with the national standard GB/T 44265-2024, which outlines the technical specifications for sodium-ion batteries deployed in energy storage power stations. Under business code 024029, the CQC’s New Energy Product Department is now accepting certification applications through its official website. Interested manufacturers can reach out to the department’s engineers for further guidance. Various battery systems and components usually require CCC certification or a battery registration for China in order to be approved for import and sale in China.
