CATL aims for 3,000 battery swap stations in 2026 across China

CATL announced ambitious targets for 2026: more than 3,000 battery swap stations for passenger vehicles in 140+ cities and 900 Qiji Swap stations for heavy trucks. The company also plans to launch a highway network and open its franchise program, aiming for 30,000 locations long-term.

For heavy trucks, Qiji Swap plans to reach 900 stations by 2026, expanding its backbone network to a “five-horizontal, five-vertical” layout. By 2030, the brand expects to cover 80% of China’s trunk logistics capacity with an “eight-horizontal, ten-vertical” green network.

These goals follow rapid progress in 2025, with 1,020 swap stations for passenger vehicles and 305 Qiji stations already operational. CATL’s dual-network strategy supports urban passenger mobility and national freight corridors, marking a shift from technology validation to large-scale application.

Strategic partnerships with energy giants, automakers, and logistics leaders, including Sinopec, State Grid, FAW Jiefang, JD Logistics, and DHL, are driving this expansion. CATL says its battery swap ecosystem is now a core enabler of China’s “dual carbon” strategy.
