Battery manufacturer e.battery systems starts its own branch in Silicon Valley on the US market.

e.battery systems GmbH in Dornbirn (Vorarlberg/Austria) is establishing its own subsidiary in Silicon Valley. This is intended to significantly accelerate the entry into the US market. The company was able to win the former Executive Director of Panasonic Automotive Systems, Hakan Kostepen, as head of the company.

Christian Schlögl is also a new member of the company’s management team. He assumed the role of Chief Strategy Officer in June.

With Hakan Kostepen, an experienced manager is taking over the establishment of the US subsidiary of e.battery systems. The 59-year-old has held various positions at Panasonic Automotive Systems America since 2004, most recently as Executive Director Product Strategy & Innovation for almost ten years. Previously, Kostepen worked for the Ford Motor Company.

Christopher Schöpf, founder and CEO of e.battery systems.

Entering the North American market is an important step in the further development of the company.

With his management experience and good contacts with the US automotive industry, Hakan Kostepen is a great asset for the Dornbirn-based technology company.

Strong growth expected Schöpf sees “enormous potential” in the USA and Canada, especially for the customer-specific, cooled batteries and the energy storage systems from second-life modules: “The market there is several times larger than that in Europe. And we are one of the technologically leading companies in the industry.”

The team in Silicon Valley will quickly comprise a double-digit number of employees and in the medium term will be at least as large as the headquarters in Dornbirn/Austria. 30 people are currently employed there, and a doubling is planned in the coming months. In a further step, e.battery systems also wants to set up production for the high-tech battery systems in the USA.

New Chief Strategy Officer Christian Schlögl is also a new member of the management team. The 39-year-old has been working on the global expansion of e.battery systems since mid-2020. In June, he assumed the role of Chief Strategy Officer. Schlögl was previously Managing Director of Kreisel Electric in Upper Austria, also a globally active battery specialist.

“The location in Silicon Valley is ideal for serving companies in the high-tech and energy sectors in the region,” Schlögl is convinced. “A strong presence in the U.S. is a milestone in building our international network of strategic partners and our own subsidiaries.”

e.battery systems was founded in 2019 by Christopher Schöpf. The company develops and manufactures customer-specific batteries for electric vehicles, construction machinery and industrial plants as well as energy storage systems for industry and commerce.

In order to achieve the targeted strong growth, e.battery systems has already concluded long-term contracts with cell suppliers. Just a few weeks ago, the company was able to secure an order from the Swedish manufacturer RGNT for at least 30 million euros.
